    Back from vacation!
Hi everyone, I'm back from California. Wow, what an amazing vacation. It's nice to be home though, to my slow pace. When I saw 8 lanes of traffic going both ways and they were all full I nearly had a coronary!

We had so much fun and there was never a dull moment. One of the highlights for me was walking Venice Beach. The kids really enjoyed the performers and we bought lots of souvenirs.

I'm going to be posting pictures on my blog later this week. I got home to my galley for Pleasure Control and my copy edits for Pleasure Prolonged so it's going to be a busy week.

    Heading out!
    Hi all,
I'm heading to California, and will be back on the 28th. My house sitter just arrived so we're ready to go. I have no idea how we're going to get all our luggage in the car, though. Why, oh why do we always over pack.

I'll miss you all. Have a great week. I'll post pictures when I get back.

What makes you buy a book?

On one of the loops I'm on they are discussing this topic: What makes you pick up, or buy a book? I find this so interesting. Does the cover make you pick it up? Is that enough to make you buy? Or do you have to read the back blurb first? How willing are you to try a new author, just because you like the cover and blurb?

Do you read the first page to see if it will hook you?

When I go to a bookstore, I love to look over all the books, touch them, read the blurbs etc, and quite often I'll pick up and buy a book from a new author because I've "heard" of them on a loop, or I like the cover/blurb. I don't always read the first page, sometimes I'll flip through and just read in the middle, to get a feel for the writer's style, to see if I click with her voice.

How about you? What makes you buy a book?

    Who's On TopLisa Renee Jones

Who's On Top By Lisa Renee Jones Book 2 in the Office Games series. Sex, lies, and love...

Catherine Maxwell, aka Cat, believes in the sex and lies, but life has taught her to leave love out of the equation. She keeps her life simple, avoiding the corporate world of her father and brothers. As for her men, she prefers them short lived and red hot. So when she meets attorney Reese Walker she wants nothing more than her proverbial hot spot stroked. Only Reese isn't willing to stop at one night and he makes it known.

Soon Reese and Cat are in a whirlwind affair where the battle for control, both in and out of the bedroom, becomes an erotic adventure. And just when Cat begins to trust Reese, to think she might let him beyond her barriers, she discovers he has a business connection to her father. Now Cat must decide Reese's real motives and she'll do whatever is necessary to get to the truth. If Reese wants to end up on top, he's going to have to prove he belongs there.

    Flowers

Yesterday this courier comes to my door with flowers for me. I thought, who would be sending me flowers?

The man gave them to me and made his way back to his car. I opened the card and it said, Thanks Diana. I called the man back and said, I think you have the wrong house I don't know anyone named Diana.

He grabbed his slip and read my name and phone number and told me he definitely had the right place. He also gave me Diana's phone number. I wracked my brain trying to figure out who Diana was. It was making me insane. Just as I prepared to call her number I suddenly realized who Diana was!! It was the lady who lost her purse. I thought that was so nice. She sent me some beautiful pink carnations.

    Not necessary, but appreciated!

I'm sitting here drinking my coffee thinking how lucky I am. I was at chat last night with my fellow Allure Authors and I'm so lucky to call everyone of them my friend. What a wonderful bunch of gals.

I'm also a member of WriterBabes, again, such wonderful ladies.

During chat last night, one lady mentioned that she used my pleasure games site as her wallpaper. This totally blew me away and made my day. I am so lucky to have met such wonderful supportive people online and hope I get to meet you all in person some day.

I wanted to mention that I have a new crossword puzzle under recipes. It's fun, try it out.

    Monday
    Hi all,
I hope everyone had a great weekend. I'm getting so excited about my trip to California. So are the kids, they are barely sleeping. I have so much fun stuff planned that I'll have to come back home for a rest. I'm not looking forward to catching a plane at 6am and travelling for 12 hours though, especially since I HATE flying.

So a strange thing happened today. My daughter called from school because she forgot her clarinet. I drove it to the school and on my way home I pass this school bus. I notice something fly off the bus, I couldn't tell if someone threw something out the window or what was going on. Then I see this purse on the side of the road. I stop and pick it up. I didn't know what was going on. This guy came over because he thought he saw it come from the bus too. So I open it and look for identification. I find an address book and start calling the numbers. Finally I get a hold of someone who can give me the owners number. So I call and get her husband. I leave my home number and my cell. A short while later she calls me all panicked. She'd been to the police station to report it. So this lady and her husband show up at my door to get her purse and the guy actually works with my husband. So weird.
Apparently she was having a bad day, Monday and all. Locked herself out of her school bus, put her purse on the fender and forgot it. I'm so glad I was able to get it back to her.

On another note, tonight I'll be chatting at writerspace with the Allure Authors. Please be sure to stop by to say hello!

    Playing hooky
    Happy Friday everyone!

My hubby is off today so I'm playing hooky. We're heading out to do some shopping and have lunch together. Unfortunately, hubby wants to take one of the new Toyota fj cruisers out for a test drive. Oh joy. He had an original 1972 Landcruiser as a teen so I guess it's a nostalgia thing.

    Have a great weekend!

    Independent bookstores
I live in a small community and we have a fair size independent bookstore here. I ran into the owner at the gym last night. She was so lovely. We got talking about covers etc and she said she probably wouldn't sell Pleasure Control because of the cover. I was a little bummed. She said she has to chose carefully and I respect that, but I'm hoping she'll clear a top shelf for me, where the kids and little old ladies can't reach. LOL

I started telling her about the Allure Authors and she said, Yes, I've heard of the Allure Authors..WOW...she said I just didn't realize you were one of them. I was thrilled that an independent book store in a small community heard of us!!

What Kind of Reader are YOU?
    1. When you find a new to you author and fall in love with their writing, do you go out and get your hands on all her back list, and read through them like a mad women. Or do you pace yourself and savor each book as you find it?

I usually go back and buy everything and savor

    2. Have you ever burned yourself out on an author by reading their back list one after an other?

    Yup.

    3. Can you read anywhere, and grab a few min of reading here and there? Or do you need a block of time to be able to at least read one or two chapters or more?

I can tune everything out and read anywhere. I often read at the gym while on the exercise bike, music blaring, TVs blaring and hunky men moaning. Okay, so maybe I do find that last on a wee bit distracting..wink.

    4. When a new book comes out that you have been anticipating, do you dive right in and finish it in record breaking time? Or do you find yourself savoring every and page making it last as long as possible?

    I love to savour.

    5. Have you ever done anything to get a book that would cause some people to raise there eyebrows? What was it?

Besides the time I flirted shamelessly with the man working at the bookstore, convincing him he should check the boxes out back for the book I was searching for, I’d have to say no.

    Your turn!
