    Winter Wonderland

I've been wanting snow for awhile now and on Monday we got a big snow storm. Everything is white and beautiful.

Last night I had to drive my son to soccer, half an hour away on a terrible highway. I didn't take the time to clean my wipers good enough and they were icy. There were points when the headlights from on coming traffic completely blinded me. I was terrified. My son kept saying look at the white line, but it was snowing and the white line was gone. I took our exit and told him I was turning around and going home. I figured soccer would be canceled in the crazy weather anyway. But since we were already there, we thought we'd check it out. It was still on.

I was so rattled, I decide to stay, hoping the roads would get cleared.
He practiced for an hour and a half and by the time we got out the roads had been plowed and were clear. Thank God!! So the drive home was good. But I already told him, we will NOT be going to soccer when it's snowing.

Does everyone else hate driving in the winter as much as I do? And how is the weather where you all are?

I don't blame you for being scared. No soccer game is worth having an accident over.

I hate driving at the best of times, so winter driving totally stresses me out. It doesn't help that this time last year I had an accident. Luckily, none of us were hurt too badly, and the van didn't end up being a write-off like we originally thought.

Retirement down south sounds pretty good, don't you think? :-)

It's 70 something here, too. I never liked driving in bad weather of any kind. At night, it's just downright scary.

I hate driving in the snow when I can't see. I actually had to turn my headlights off durning that storm to see where I was going.

But once we're all home safe and sound, I love the snow. My girls made a snowman too. :)

Cathy, I feel for you. Glad you made it safe and sound.

Hate driving on bad roads, always say I'm not doing it but always end up in the middle of it because I have to take/pickup one of my kids.

The snow doesn't bother me too much to drive in, it's the ice underneath that scares me. A few years ago I was driving to work, which is north and on on the opposite side of the river from where I live. On my side of the river we got a little bit of snow but when I got to the other side of the river they had gotten all ice during the night and I ended up sliding into a deep ditch when I got on the ramp to exit off of the highway. I ended up with a bruised knee and a wrench wrist and stuck until a tow truck could pull me out. I was lucky it wasn't worse. So now I try to be off of the roads when I know they are going to be icy.

We just got over 1 inch of ice Thurs night 11/30 and over 1 foot of snow last Friday morning. It took me and 4 other people over 3 1/2 hrs last Sat to dig my car out. I was cursing the ice and snow than, but by Tues (because I wasn't out in it) I liked it again :).

I'm glad you and your son made it safe and sound!
