Covers |
I've been giving covers a lot of thought lately. Soon I'll be asked by Avon to give my ideas on what I'd like for a cover for Pleasure Control. Even though clinch covers supposedly sell better, I'm not crazy about them. I'd like a sexy guy on the cover but would you women out there be embarassed reading a book like this on the bus? Clinch or no clinch, that is the question. |

Hey Dallas, So glad to hear nothing will keep you from buying those books. There was a discussion over at the Avon loop where some women were worried the Avon covers would be too hot and they'd be too embarassed just to walk to the counter with them. I'm like you, nothing will keep me from buying. I used to take HOT books to the gym with me when I worked out. LOL. I didn't care what anyone thought! I think the guys who worked there looked forward to it. They loved to look at the books and read the back blurbs.

I know what you mean Cathryn. This has been a concern for me as well...I love the new Kensington covers, but because of them, these books will be in the erotica section at Chapters, which I think will hampen sales to the romance readers...
Thankfully, you have a say at Avon, we didn't at Kensington.

Hey Vivi, I can have a say but in the end the art dept does what they think best. I do love your cover for Hell Cat but like you say it places it in the erotic section and that can lower sales. Are all Kensington books going in erotica section?

At Chapters, yes. I talked to the top bookbuyer there and she said that the whole line will go there.
I know at my store level they will put my books where I want them, but what about the othter 200 stores???

Can't think...staring...what was the question? Oh yeah...I don't ride the bus. And I don't know the guy at the store counter, so i don't actually care what he thinks about my book purchases. Ah yes, apathy, it is my friend.
